Ontarios fresh gambling regulations are taking a firm stance against slot machine autoplay. The province’s newly established online gambling authority has unveiled rules for the industry as Ontario prepares to open its market. These new regulations encompass a prohibition on autoplay and a minimum spin duration of 2.5 seconds for slot machines.

At present, only the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is permitted to provide online gambling services, but this will change as the province broadens its market. Last week, the provincial government launched Ontario iGaming, a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), which has now established guidelines for online casino games.

These new rules are intended to manage game design and include a ban on autoplay for slot machines. The guidelines stipulate that players must actively participate in each game, initiating and then pressing the “start button” or performing a comparable action.
