888 Holdings Reports Revenue Surge Despite Regulatory Challenges

A prominent online gaming enterprise, 888 Holdings, announced a revenue surge of 9% for the initial six months of 2017, fueled by substantial expansion in its casino and sports wagering divisions.

This corporation, managing well-known brands such as 888poker, 888sport, and 888casino, witnessed its revenue climb to $270.1 million, contrasting with $262 million during the corresponding timeframe the previous year.

Casino and sports wagering emerged as top performers, registering remarkable year-over-year growth rates of 11% and 45% accordingly. Conversely, 888’s poker offerings trailed behind, achieving a mere 1% uptick.

Although 888 Holdings prospered in its consumer-oriented business, with revenue escalating by 11%, its business-to-business sector encountered a 6% downturn, yielding $27.5 million.

Notwithstanding these favorable outcomes, the company recently encountered an obstacle. The UK Gambling Commission imposed a record-setting £780,000 penalty on 888 Holdings for neglecting to safeguard susceptible patrons and avert money laundering. This occurrence serves as a stark cautionary tale of the heightened scrutiny confronting gambling entities and the paramount importance of ethical gaming conduct.

Despite facing recent challenges, 888’s chief executive, Itai Frieberger, maintains a positive outlook. He emphasized the company’s robust performance during the initial six months of 2017, noting a 9% revenue increase compared to the previous year (adjusting for exchange rate variations).

Frieberger linked this achievement to steady expansion in 888’s primary casino offerings, the sustained success of their thriving 888Sport platform, and a solid contribution from their poker products.
