The British Columbia Gaming Commission (BCLC) is searching for a new executive to guide the organization. Following the departure of former President and CEO, Jim Lightbody, in December 2021, the Crown corporation seeks a permanent successor. With Linda Cavanaugh acting as interim CEO, BCLC has partnered with Leaders International, a Canadian executive recruitment agency, to identify the ideal candidate.

The position description, available on Leaders International’s website, outlines the desired candidate profile: a cooperative, visionary leader capable of cultivating a culture of creativity and development within BCLC. They seek an unconventional leader, someone who can navigate the changing expectations of the role and propel the organization beyond its comfort level. The incoming CEO must be a staunch advocate for BCLC’s principles, possessing a demonstrated history of formulating and executing successful approaches.

In essence, the selected candidate will be tasked with harmonizing the generation of income for British Columbia with BCLC’s dedication to ethical gaming practices and the welfare of participants.

The Board of Directors at BCLC, led by Chair Greg Moore, expressed great enthusiasm in commencing the quest for their subsequent Chief Executive Officer,” the announcement stated. “This leader will be instrumental in guiding BCLC’s trajectory, expanding upon achievements, and pioneering novel approaches to best cater to their patrons and stakeholders.”

Moore underscored the significance of identifying a leader who embodies BCLC’s fundamental principles. “Our incoming CEO must possess a fervent dedication to societal well-being and demonstrate a commitment to cultivating an environment of empowerment, fairness, and inclusivity for our workforce and throughout the sector.”

The formal process of seeking BCLC’s new executive commences with the initial phase of application evaluations on March 17, 2022.
