The UKs horse racing governing body, the BHA, recently welcomed two seasoned professionals, Kyrsten Halley and Tara Warren, as independent non-executive directors. Their addition brings a wealth of knowledge to the board.

BHA Chair, Joe Saumarez Smith, expressed excitement about their arrival, emphasizing their enthusiasm for the sport and their impressive professional journeys. Both Halley and Warren possess significant expertise in digital strategy, consumer engagement, and driving substantial change, all vital for the advancement of British horse racing. Smith also acknowledged the departing board member, Laura Whyte, thanking her for nine years of commitment and anticipating her continued influence until her tenure concludes in November.

Both Halley and Warren were chosen through a rigorous selection process managed by the Thoroughbred Group, guaranteeing the BHA attracts top-tier talent. Halley, for example, is an accomplished executive with over ten years of experience and currently holds the position of Marketing Director at Samworth Brothers. Her passion extends beyond the boardroom – she’s a dedicated racing fan and even cares for a retired thoroughbred named Eclair Mag.

Matt Warren eagerly anticipates his new position with the British Horseracing Authority, where he aims to attract a fresh demographic of enthusiasts through technological advancements. He believes this strategy is crucial for boosting the sport’s financial gains. Warren’s official start date as Executive Director and Board member is December 1st, 2023.

On a separate note within the horse racing world, William Hill has extended its agreement with PA Betting to continue receiving international horse and greyhound racing information.
