The entity managing the Illinois Lottery, Camelot Illinois, has unveiled a novel function termed “Scan-n-Play” that is reinvigorating the state’s lottery sector. This groundbreaking feature permits participants to digitally scan their conventional scratch-off tickets utilizing the Illinois Lottery mobile application. Through this action, the game is brought to life on the screen, displaying all potential winnings.

Although numerous lotteries across the United States provide comparable instant win games, Camelot highlights that Illinois is the “pioneer in animating these games for both online and physical retailers through a ‘digital unveiling'”.

Tina Wolf, the Vice President of Products and Partnerships at Camelot Illinois, remarked, “We are revolutionizing the customary instant ticket encounter into an immersive digital gaming encounter.” She further noted that this new element is drawing in fresh participants and fostering responsible expansion for the Illinois Lottery.

The Illinois Lottery initially introduced instant tickets in September 2020, but these were solely obtainable at brick-and-mortar outlets. After a year elapsed, instant tickets became accessible for digital acquisition through the Illinois Lottery website and app. Presently, a total of ten instant play games are offered both digitally and at physical retail locations.

Wolf elaborated that the evolution of the lottery’s instant ticket selection is founded on a straightforward principle – to maintain the engagement of current players and entice new participants.

Half a year following the Illinois Lottery’s introduction of its “Fast Play” games on the internet, the service experienced a substantial 40% surge in first-time users, while established players increased their weekly wagering activity by more than fivefold on average.
